Almost 5 weeks into lock down, our travel dreams at Steadfast Africa are becoming more and more vivid as we miss the freedom to see and explore the world around us. We also miss those chance encounters, the new people we meet, the cultures we get to immerse ourselves in… All the wonders of travel.
“I have met some amazing people through Nick, and that is a highlight for me about travelling. To meet all his friends from all over the world, to go visit them in their homes or have a meal with them at their local spots. People who have now become my interesting and wonderful friends”
Olivia, Steadfast Africa.
Where in the world have you felt happiest?
Sri Lanka – I would go back any day.
Which is your favourite city, and why?
Cartengena, Colombia. The walled city is just incredible- steeped in History, colour and vibrancy. You are basically next to the Caribbean, the people are so interesting and the culture just draws you in.
Describe a childhood holiday memory.
Some of my happiest holiday memories were local ones- spending long summer days on Central Beach in Plettenberg Bay and learning to fish on the rocks of Blombos Nature Reserve.
Tell us about a Great Little Place you know:
The Fish Shack in Talamanca Ibiza, this restaurant is a small unpretentious place set on the rocks above the sea in Talamanca. They serve the best, simply cooked, fresh fish. The kitchen is a caravan and the restaurant seating is wooden tables on the rocks. Nothing fancy, just the most delicious food served outdoors.
“I lost my heart in…”
Italy- the Italian coast, the Italian food, the old school villages and beautiful Architecture …Bellissimo.
What do you pack first?
A Good book!
Steadfast Africa cannot wait to plan your next holiday with you again- it will all be worth the wait, we just know it.
