It’s very romantic lodge. As the location of the iconic film Out of Africa, it is perfect for honeymoon couples. However, with dedicated family rooms, it also caters for families.

What in your opinion are some of the most standout/impressive features about the property?
Its location – it has the most incredible panoramic view over the mara.

What is the service at the property like?
Very good, prompt and considered, whilst remaining very friendly.

Tell us about the food (if applicable)?
Lovely. It has amazing outdoor dining options, and they set up bush breakfasts, picnics and host an amazing boma evening.

How would you describe this property in a few sentences to someone wanting to book it?
The quintessential Mara experience. The views alone make you realise why the tradition of ‘safari’ came into effect. And that’s before you add the fact that it’s located perfectly for the Migration (with a camping option to get right into the action).

What activities are available to do there?
You can do the classic game drives, and walking safaris, as well as hot air ballooning for a different perspective (this is at an extra cost but is well worth it). The Shamba lunch (a signature garden to table experience) and Boma dinners are also great culinary activities on offer.

Tell us about the journey to get to the destination – what are the logistics like in terms of travel time, transport etc?
It’s 45 min flight from Nairobi and a 45 min drive to the lodge (through the park!)

What do you recommend to a guest in terms of a minimum length of stay for this property?
Three to four nights, as there is so much to do and explore.

What time of year would this property be at optimal enjoyment?
The weather is fairly consistent. But to see the Migration you need to aim for between July and October, as this is when the iconic river crossings occur.

What is unique about this property?
Being located in the Mara Triangle rather than the national park, you get to experience the migration without the large number of vehicles (it is stricter here with a limit on vehicles to a sighting and much more private). The map room at the lodge is also very unique.
