What kind of traveller would this property suit?
Honeymooners, couples both young and old, and people with babies. The resort is one of the five-star properties within the portfolio, so the level of luxury is high and works well for people without children looking for a beach holiday. But equally, as with all the Beachcomber resorts, it offers amazing support, facilities and services for people with children and multigen groups, along with the luxury, as it has the kids’ club and teenagers’ club. You could feel like you are in a wonderful high-end resort and not living life at the kiddies’ pool.
What, in your opinion, are some of the most standout/impressive features about the property?
Its position and structure. The property is is one of the most incredible locations on the island (Trou aux Biches beach is regarded by locals as one of the best beaches and bays).
The structure or footprint of the resort is such that although it is big it never feels crowded – as it is spread out and has multiple pools, beach access areas and six separate restaurants.
It is established and the greenery on the property makes it that much more special. The facilities in general are top notch, the main pool and restaurant area is exquisite. The space is sensational and a complete oasis.
What is the service at the property like?
The team is helpful and beyond friendly. You aren’t waited on hand and foot like in some five-star hotels (which some patrons prefer in fact), but the ethos is that of helpful and friendly service.
Tell us about the food (if applicable)
The food is outstanding. There is a big buffet restaurant that offers many different options. And there is great variety between the different restaurants, which cater to multiple tastes: Indian, Italian, seafood, Asian – all high end.
How would you describe this property in a few sentences to someone wanting to book it?
The luxurious side of resort life – a jungle oasis on the beach. Relaxed but high-end, with amazing childcare facilities. You can have a romantic holiday but with your small child in tow.
What activities are available to do here?
What can’t you do? Golf, tennis, table tennis, yoga, gym, all watersports, boating, snorkelling – it has everything!
Tell us about the journey to get to the destination – what are the logistics like in terms of travel time, transport etc?
The resort is quite a drive from the airport, it is on the northwest of the island and the airport is on the southeast, so you need a transfer, which will take over an hour of drive time.
What do you recommend to a guest in terms of a minimum length of stay for this property?
We spent three nights here, and that was too short. I would say the ideal stay is five to seven nights or longer. There are a lot of activities and so much to do, which makes it easy to stay there for a while.
What time of year would this property be at optimal enjoyment?
We went in January and had the most sensational weather but that was a bit of a fluke. Out of the rainy summer season would be the ideal time to go – so aim for March to November.
What is unique about this property?
The beachfront and beach it’s on (one of the best on the island) and also the fact that the property is so spread out and it has over 100 pools (many of these private on the beach-facing suites but there are many that they are never crowded) and you don’t see the hundreds of other guests. It is close to Grand Baie which is such a lovely place to walk around and have a drink.
